New York, New York

Once, there was I place that I had never known.  Still, before I stepped it, I already knew I wouldn't want to leave it.  They say, never to come back to the place you have been happy in, but the truth is when I left it behind, I was not even for a second leaving it.

Here are some of the things I loved the most of the city that never sleeps.  Play the video at the end, and feel moved by New York... New York

1.- Colorful balloons welcomed spring even before leaves had dressed the trees.

2.- On rainy days, even flags shared the sadness of grey skies.

3.- You realized "you don't know what you got 'til it's gone".  Try to get a Big Yellow Taxi raining cats and dogs!

4.- Beautiful colorful women laid on walls

5.- Tired of yourself? Go get a wig!

6.- No more just working for my money working for my pay. Just around the corner art was there in some café.

7.- You might feel small but, gosh, you were sooo high...

7.- Music still lived in bars

8.- Music still lived live on the streets

9.- Music would live forever live under a bridge

11.- Real record stores do still exist.

12.- Walls urged you to express yourself

13.- No need to be dressed to kill

14.- It feels like home

15.- Taxis got you where the night just begins

16.- Old friends waited for you

17.- So as new ones were waiting too

18.- Inspiration just came to you

19.- If you were eager to go to her too...

20.- It was a bit of heaven for each one there...

For FASHION WAS ALIVE AND EVERYWHERE!

Want to feel a bit?  Just listen, and you'll see...

New York.... New York

Vintage for a concert: three looks

The last gig I went to, which seems ages ago (guess that's the first time I spend four months of vacuum between groups), was Ruben Pozo's at Bikini in Barcelona.  He and the band were awesome, just as they usually are.
While waiting for my cousin Irene, I met Meri, dressed in an ideal vintage for concert.

In a few days, it will be gigs time again...  Les Festes de la Mercè 2012 are already here!  I haven't planned any outfits yet, but here I let you some pics from Ruben's tour "Lo que más" and our outfits for the Barcelona concert.

I'll try to be a good girl and take more pics to post La Mercè outfits!!

Irene and me, just about to start

Meri's vintage look

Meri's bag and shoes detail, both vintage

Meri's biker and shirt detail, both from Top Shop

Meri's ponytail on a side.  I love it!

Irene's look:  green tee, black mini, boots and red lipstick.

My look: w&b transparent shirt, denim shrots, red biker, sunnies and black hat!

Now, if you come to think, we were all a bit vintage:  Meri in a close 50s inspiration, Irene clearly in the 80s and me wearing some kind of 90s reading...

Can't wait to see what the fall concerts bring to wear

Y aunque él(los) no vayan a estar allí, disfrutad the music beibes!!!

Rumor, Scandal, Fame, Revolution

"Who's that girl?"  Were the exact words echoing in my head when I first saw Anna Dello Russo.  She was not a person she was the extravaganza. Ex... tra... va... gan... za...  Taking delight in every single piece of the word, the same as she took delight in every single piece of fashion she was wearing.  I took her name to mean excess.  But "the right kind" of excess.  Of course I don't like everything she wears, but I agree on every look she chooses, for she shows coherence all the time.  What is more important:  she is aware of what she is wearing all the time.

“I take risks with my clothes, I don’t have a problem with people looking at me. If I did, I guess I would be in trouble.”

Two years later, news is on the street: "Anna Dello Russo for H&M".
Rumor?  Scandal?  Fame?  Revolution?
At first glance I didn't have a doubt.  I felt as if my heart was moving back to Versailles.  Kirsten Dunst and Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette were the closest reference to the images that are still coming to my mind when I recall the amazing designs of the italian fashionista.  Pieces in gold, with the almost only company of turquoise for excess, extravagance, sophistication.

Marie Antoinette defied both royalty and the commoner by living like a rockstar (so as much as Sofia Coppola put it for her film, released by Sony Pictures).  And I can only think of her figure, that of the one who broke protocol to encourage literature and protect arts, as the strong enough personality to dress for success no matter what the excess.
Rumor?  Scandal?  Fame?  Revolution?

Note: the pics from the motion picture Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola, are property of SonyPictures and taken from their webpage.  Pics of Anna dello Russo Collection for H&M are property of Magnus Magnusson (as stated on the pictures) and taken from the wonderful The Budget Babe blog.

No Man's Land by Monki

I first knew about Monki thanks to a collaboration the brand did with H&M and I have been one of their most active consumers ever since.  I just love their clothes which you can combine with basics to create your very own personal style whatever your preferences are, there is always a monki thing for you!  But the most important thing for me is that they provide one of the best costumer services ever.  They are super active in supporting the customer in every doubt, they always show in a good mood (which one might think is their duty, but it is not so usual...) and they always send the last issue of their magazine together with your order, delivered in a super cute box decorated as a vintage suitcase.

They are now launching a new collection for the F/W season: No Man's Land.

Such an inspiring title for such an inspiring collection.

How many times have you longed for a place for quests and revelations?  Somewhere bringing you closer to what truly matters?

Be ready for deep colors and warm fabrics...

Intro for No Man's Land collection by Monki

An intro that makes me feel much as if the words were uttered by the Log Lady, that character leading the spectator in the misterious universe of Twin Peaks.  So does the spirit of the main pieces of the collection.
Designs that take you back to the very soul of places like Twin Peaks, warm, full of visions, far enough from civilization to have its own laws.  Places to find courage and make it your best ally.
Twin Peaks.  Probably, the best TV series ever.  Welcome back.
